AI readiness checker FAQ

What does “AI ready” mean for a website?

An AI-ready page can be reached by AI crawlers, read without running JavaScript, understood through clear structure and schema markup, and verified as belonging to a real brand. Those are the preconditions for being cited or recommended by ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews.

Is this AI readiness checker really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up and no limit beyond basic abuse protection. The scoring runs in your browser; our server only fetches the public files it needs from the site you enter.

Does a high score mean ChatGPT will recommend me?

No. A high score means nothing technical is stopping AI engines from using your page. Being recommended also depends on how often trusted third-party sites mention your brand. Use Step 2 of the tool to see what AI engines say about you today.

Why does the firewall check say “inconclusive”?

Some sites block automated requests of any kind, including our regular browser test. When that happens we can’t tell whether AI bots are treated differently. Real AI crawlers are verified by their IP address, so your server logs are the final word.

What is llms.txt and do I need one?

llms.txt is a plain-text Markdown file at your site root that summarises who you are and links to your most important pages, so AI tools and agents can understand your site quickly. It is not required by any search engine, but it is quick to add. WordPress users can generate one with our free LLMER plugin.

Do you store the sites I check?

Results are kept in temporary memory for up to 24 hours so repeat checks are instant, then discarded. We don’t store, publish or sell the URLs you check.
